Godparent Gifts: Representative of Love and Appreciation
65Baptism is an essential sacrament of Christians, signifying love and grace of Lord Jesus Christ on the newborn. Allowing the infant to enter the Church, the baptismal ceremony is marked with great importance in a child's life. The event is equally important for parents who realize their role as nurturers of a new life, entrusted to them by God. Besides, there is someone else, the godparent, who plays an indispensable role during and even after the ceremony.
Typically known as a sponsor, godparent is assumed as the spiritual guardian of the baptized child. It is the solemn responsibility of a godparent to make a profession of faith for the baby, and instruct him or her about the obligations of Christian life in due course of time. Though a godparent may not be biologically related to the child, but he or she becomes an integral part of the extended family. Godparent gifts are a great way to demonstrate the trust placed in him or her by the child’s family.
A symbol of gratitude and an appreciation for the lifetime commitment towards the child, godparent gifts are likely to be appreciated by the sponsors. Of many available options, it is best to present godparent gifts that have spiritual and religious value, like a cross, crucifix or an inspirational book. These godparent gifts can also be personalized by adding the name of the godparent, baptism date, special note from the child's family, hand-written poem, or a picture of the baby.

Gifts like photo-frame, photo-album and other photo gifts are other popular personalized godparent gifts. A photo album containing wonderful pictures with special notes on them can also be presented to a godparent. For taking a godparent down the memory lane, a hand-made photo frame with a personal message written on it is an appropriate gift
Other personalized godparent gifts like self made greeting cards, wall paintings and keepsake show pieces can also be presented as a token of love and appreciation. A creative scrapbook filled with keepsakes and photos highlighting the role of a godparent in the child's life are also bound to leave an emotional impact on the godfather. Jewelry, such as chains, bracelets and rings, locket, or pocket watch, is among other popular personalized godparent gifts. To ensure that the godparent likes the gift, child’s parents can keep in perspective the choice and preference of the recipient.

I fully agree that Baptism is a very important part of a person's Christian walk with Almighty God.
It symbolizes our being "Re-born" again in Jesus and the washing away of our sinfulness. It is not a step that any person should make without being fully aware of what it is they personally are doing.
It is a step that requires an informed conscious willingness to apply through one's personal faith and knowledge the Gift Jesus offers of being cleansed and redeemed. This is why those who came to John the Baptist and those who came to the apostles and disciples were at least at an age of reasoning and understanding, for the most part adult.
